About us

Our Mission

Our mission is simple: give firefighters and EMTs the fastest, most reliable tools when seconds count. HyperProto puts the right protocols right at your fingertips: on scene, offline, every time.

What sets us apart is that we've been there. One of our founders is a former firefighter-EMT who spent years in the field before moving into software engineering. HyperProto isn't built from assumptions. It's built from firsthand experience, shaped by ongoing conversations with the people who use it every day.

By making critical protocols, SOPS and SOGs instantly accessible we help crews respond faster, make fewer errors under pressure, and focus on what matters most: the patient in front of them, ultimately helping save more lives, and making our communities safer.

We're a small, dedicated team but we're driven by a big purpose: We're here to build tools that serve the people who serve all of us.

Meet the founders

Briggs Elsperger

Briggs Elsperger

Domain Expert & Application Architect

Briggs has been involved with firefighting since he was 16 in his rural community in South Dakota, becoming a Firefighter/EMT professionally for two years before transitioning into a software engineering career built over 10 years. He hasn't forgotten what it felt like to need information quickly while the ambulance is moving or a hazardous material is leaking. HyperProto is his way of giving something back to the people still running toward emergencies.

Austin Sullivan

Austin Sullivan

Business Operations & Frontend Engineering

Austin's first career was in construction, working for his family business starting at 14. Nearly a decade later he returned to school for a Business Administration degree, then taught himself to code professionally during the COVID lockdowns. He has worked as a senior user interface engineer since 2021. Austin joined HyperProto because he knows how critical the work of firefighters and healthcare providers is and he relishes the opportunity to help them help others.

Cody Loyd

Cody Loyd

User Interface & Experience

Cody began his professional career as a teacher before teaching himself to code, and has spent the last 9 years rising from junior developer to Engineering Manager. For Cody, HyperProto is about building tools that get out of the way so the people in the field can be as effective as possible.

Zach Meyer

Zach Meyer

Quality Assurance & User Experience

Since starting in plumbing construction in 2016, Zach has consistently looked for ways to reduce friction and make work easier for the people around him, whether in the field, the office, or design coordination. That same mindset carried into tech, where he built on a lifelong interest in computers and developed a reputation for attention to detail, process improvement, and thoughtful user experience.
